John’s teaching skills were honed for over a decade at private institutes in Seocho, Daechi, and Mokdong. The years John spent cultivating young minds in English, Latin, History, Philosophy, Debate, and the SAT are distinguished by his work on behalf of international and boarding school students applying, and getting admitted, to some of the best colleges and elite summer programs in the US, including Harvard, the University of Chicago, and Pomona College, among many others. John loves teaching tightknit groups of smart students who work hard and like to have fun. Established in 2017 in Apgujeong, Emerson Academy is the culmination of all his efforts.
John holds a Bachelor of Arts with High Honors in Classics, Philosophy, and English Literature from California State University, Long Beach, 2002-2004.
He graduated magna cum laude (GPA 3.9) and as a Finalist for the Commencement 2004 Outstanding Student Award, given to the top two students in the College of Liberal Arts.
He also studied Classical Humanities in philosophy, theology, ecclesiology, history, literature, Greek, and Latin in the Novitiate and the College of Humanities of the Legionaries of Christ, Connecticut, 2000-2002.
