COLLEGE PREP

About Us

Small classes, big results

Our small classes are very small. With no more than 4 students. Small classes means you’ll receive individual attention and guidance from your teacher, speak more in discussions and debates, and take an active role in your learning.

Critical thinking

Descartes famously stated: “I think, therefore I am.” We agree. Thinking is not only foundational to your existence but to everything that you study here. Facts matter. But you delve deeper beneath what you read on the written page.

Socratic seminar

You’ll be sitting around an oval shaped table to discuss ideas in an open-minded setting. The teacher plays the role of Socrates in asking questions to stimulate critical thinking and to draw out ideas and underlying assumptions.

Classical education

Study the best that has been thought and said throughout the ages. Emerson’s classical education is not only limited to British and American classics. Our Latin students read the great works of the ancient Romans in the original.

Ralph Waldo Emerson

"The glory of friendship is not in the outstretched hand, nor the kindly smile, nor the joy of companionship; it is in the spiritual inspiration that comes to one when he discovers that someone else believes in him and is willing to trust him. The secret to education lies in respecting the student.”

Words well spoken by our namesake, R. W. Emerson, one of America’s greatest thinkers and writers. And words we take to heart in the way we teach and mentor each student. Belief. Trust. Respect. We listen to everything you have to say – and in the way you say it.
